Abstract: (Elsevier)

A relation between the leading particle spectrum and the Koba-Nielsen-Olesen scaling function is derived. It describes the peak-plateau structure of the leading proton spectrum observed at high energies. Furthermore the associated cluster multiplicity is discussed.
