Job description:
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking qualified applicants for the position as Research Associate/Software Engineer/Physicist to work on the computational simulation infrastructure of the ATLAS experiment at CERN.
We expect the successful applicant to participate with an international team of developers in the development, operation, and maintenance of a second-generation simulation infrastructure for the ATLAS detector at the LHC, for Runs 3 and 4 of the collider.
We require a Ph.D in physics, a background in experimental particle physics, and strong computational skills. Familiarity with modern simulation infrastructures for LHC physics is highly desirable. A starting date of October 1 is proposed.
Applications, including a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae should be submitted to https://facultysearch.as.pitt.edu/apply/index/MjMx. Candidates should also arrange to have three letters of recommendation uploaded. For each reference, you will have the opportunity to input a personal email address or an email address generated through Interfolio’s Online Application Delivery. In both cases, an email notification will be sent to the designated address with instructions about uploading the letters to our system.
For full consideration, all materials should be received by Sep 7, 2018.
The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity, and diversity. EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled. Appointment is pending budgetary approval.
