Abstract: (APS)
We formulate quantum chromodynamics (QCD) in a medium of finite energy and conserved charges using the microcanonical distribution in the real-time formalism. The generating functional and Feynman rules are given and used to calculate perturbatively the entropy of the quark-gluon plasma at finite energy and fixed baryon number. We discuss the relation to the grand canonical formulation and study the implications of our results on the confinement-deconfinement phase transition.- quantum chromodynamics
