Abstract: (submitter)
Since its discovery in 1965, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) has been measured at higher and higher resolution. In this Perspective, Pierpaoli et al. combine all existing observational data sets to derive the characteristic temperature variations in the CMB as a function of angular scale. The results have profound implications for the origin of structure in the universe and the global curvature of space.
