Abstract: (Elsevier)
We have searched in the decays of the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S) and B mesons for the narrow state, γ, seen by the Mark II group in radiative ψ decay. We find the product branching fractions B [ ϒ (1 S ) → γγ ]· B [ γ → K + K − ], B [ ϒ (2 S ) → γ γ ]· B [ γ → K + K − ] and B [B → γ X]· B [ γ → K + K − ] to be less than 2×10 −4 , 9×10 −5 and 3×10 −3 , respectively at 90% confidence level. These limits constrain theoretical models if the γ is interpreted as a Higgs boson.
