The use of quantum statistical methods applied with success in quantum optics, is reviewed in the domain of multiparticle production. The theoretical formalism is outlined and the conditions under which it can be used in strong interaction physics are analyzed. Applications to multiplicity distributions include the rapidity and the energy dependence in hadron and lepton induced reactions, and the forward-backward correlations in p–p collisions.Note:
