Abstract: (Elsevier)
We reanalyze old and new Monte Carlo data for Wilson loops in 4D SU(2) and SU(3) gauge systems, using a parametrization suggested by an underlying string picture. This provides three parameter fits to the data with χ 2 values near 90% confidence level. The string tension extracted from these fits scales as required by the asymptotic freedom in a wide range of β.- GAUGE FIELD THEORY: SU(2)
