Abstract: (Elsevier)
We propose and discuss a scheme designed to deal with heavy quark systems (with QCD as a fundamental theory) in a systematic way. The Wilson loop, the Wilczsk-Zee loop, recoil effects, and other terms that lead, among others, to an instanton-generated spin-orbit interaction, are all derived from QCD. The scheme promises to have a host of other applications.
