It is shown within a 1+1 scalar meson theory that the problem of the Yukawa couplings and the lack of proper Born terms in meson-soliton scattering are resolved by constructing the Born terms of O(M_s) from the surviving Yukawa interaction of O(M_s^-3/2), combined with the zero mode pole term of O(1) and perturbative term of O(M_s^-2), where M_s is the soliton mass.
