The low-energy πN S-wave phase shifts are calculated in the Skyrme model. All 1 N c contributions stemming from the collective rotation of the soliton are taken into account properly. This is sufficient to achieve a satisfactory agreement with the empirical data. The relation to soft-pion results is discussed.
