Abstract: (Elsevier)
The π N P-wave scattering amplitudes are calculated in the Skyrme model for pion momenta up to k =3 m π . From the contributions of the rotational zero modes to the background scattering the π NN form factor is extracted. Linear and quadratic time-derivative interactions are added to the K -matrix in plane-wave Born approximation. Best results are obtained with the physical value f π =93 MeV and they reproduce the essential features of the P-wave data analysis. Deficiencies are due to two shortcomings of the Skyrme stabilization mechanism: the pion-nucleon coupling constant is too small by a factor of ∼0.77 and the Skyrmion is too soft for monopole vibrations.- pi nucleon: interaction
