The Λ particle binding energy in nuclear matter is calculated with a phenomenological separable ΛN-ΣN potential matrix and with a separable NN potential. The calculation includes the three-body ΛNN cluster energy and the rearrangement energy, both of which give only relatively small contributions to the calculated substantial Σ suppression.
