Low-energy pi N S wave scattering in the vector meson extended Skyrme model

The low-energy π N S-wave phase shifts for a Skyrme-type lagrangian containing vector mesons are calculated. The scattering solutions of the O(1) background scattering are used to evaluate matrix elements of the O(1/ N c ) coupling terms in the meson-soliton hamiltonian. In addition to the isospin-splitting they provide an isospin-independent contribution to the K -matrix which compensates the O(1) background attraction. The results are insensitive to various forms of the anomalous part of the action as long as they conserve global chiral symmetry.
